As cheesy as it sounds, I thought I’d never say this in my lifetime, but dreams do come true. Sometimes, even better than you’d imagine. Villa del Balbianello is just one of those magical places that exist in both dreams and reality. Famous for its elaborate terraced gardens and surrounds, this visit was one of the highlights to my whole Lake Como trip!P.S. Located at the extreme point of the Dosso di Lavedo sits the most beautiful Villa del Balbianello of Lake Como. Only accessible directly via water transportation, the villa overlooks an enchanting wooded promontory. It was built at the beginning of the 12th century and was frequented by intellectuals and outstanding figures of the Italian Risorgimento.

If you’re wondering why this place looks familiar, you may be right! This villa has been feature in a number of production films such as Star Wars (Episode II) and Casino Royale. It’s totally understandable though, since every turn you make through the gardens of the villa is an absolute view to take in!

How To Get ThereGetting to Villa del Balbianello can be quite tricky if you don’t do your research beforehand. But have no fear! I’ve got you covered ;) There are a couple of ways to get to the most beautiful villa in Lake Como and you can see the options I have listed below:Ferry: From Bellagio, take a ferry across to Lenno to catch the water taxi transfer to the villaBus: From Como take bus SPT C10 that will take you to Lenno, from there you can catch the water taxi transfer to the villaCar: Drive and park your car at Lenno to board the water taxi transfer to access the VillaWater Limousine: Probably the easiest way to get to the villa. If you have some cash to spare, this is definitely a great option or to split the trip between a couple of friends! The water limousine can drive you directly to the villa without any transfers. I would highly recommend going with Bellagio Water Limousines if you’re looking for an unforgettable experience (You can learn more here).
