The Time Is Now

2 weeks ago, Ross and I decided to go on a spontaneous day trip to Shenzhen! You may be asking “What is there to do there?”, well we wanted to go and visit a specific site that we discovered through Instagram to create some content for Ross Vickers Photography. This specific site is a temporary light art exhibition created by renown creative of teamLab. Having seen beautiful imagery of the exhibition pop up everywhere on our insta feed, we decided to go to the mainland and see the installation for ourselves. And I must admit it did not disappoint. Keep scrolling to read my experience and how its promoted me to think more about how our time is now. From Hong Kong, it was a quick 2 hour journey with the train. We decided to go on a weekday and arrive as soon as the exhibition opened its doors. If you have the same flexibility, this is probably the best tip I can give you! We arrived with the exhibition pretty much all to ourselves, and it was magical. We were able to take our time and completely immerse ourselves into a world of its own.

The Time Is Now The Time Is Now

teamLab is the Japanese collective behind this innovative art installation. The immersive installations explore alternative forms of perception using concepts of Ultra Subjective Space; A spatial awareness developed from representations in visual art of pre-modern Japan. The exhibition consisted of multiple rooms with various light instalments. My personal favourite was the constellation room that reacted based on my movements. The viewer within the installation became an integral vital part of the light art, an experience everyone should try. Having spent nearly 30 minutes in this one room triggered many emotions within me. Standing amongst the vast constellation made me realised how time is an integral part of life on earth. Within the whole experience, I was reminded that my actions matter to where I allocate time and how I choose to spend it. It made me question how I use my time and who I spend it with. Having gone through a personal experience of losing someone I love, prompted me think about this even more. “Am I where I’m supposed to be?” “Am I using my time wisely?” Our time is a precious element that can never be gained back once we’re use it.The Time Is Now

The Time Is NowAlthough I didn’t initial expect much from this trip, I was grateful to be able to immerse myself into a mindful state and reflect on life and time. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an exhibition to go to! The exhibition in Shenzhen opens till Nov 20th, so be quick before it ends!

Now I’ll leave you will a quote that really resonated with me in being intentional about where to put and use our precious time.“Guard your time fiercely. Be generous with it, but be intentionally about it.” – David DucheminIf you had a more time in the world, what would you do?
