How To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong Kong

With Hong Kong being such a crowded and sometimes chaotic city, it may seem hard to find peace and quiet. But did you know that the bustling city has 262 outlying islands? Between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula lies Victoria Harbour, one of the world's most renowned deep-water harbours. Bet you didn’t know that! How To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongAs the weather starts to warm up, I thought it would be the perfect time to explore more hidden gems of Hong Kong. Last week, I decided to explore a secluded beach in the outskirts of Sai Kung. Here is a guide on how to get there. How To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongHow To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongHow to get there:1. Take the MTR to Hang Hau Station2. From the MTR station, take the 101M mini bus or taxi to Sai Kung Town3. From Sai Kung Town, you can load up on lunch or BBQ to take with you from the supermarket, don’t forget to load up on liquids as well.4. Take 29R minibus or taxi to Sai Wan Road Pavilion (the journey here includes zipping through multiple curvy roads).5. Start hiking towards the trail from Sai Wan Pavilion, this route should be mostly downhill for about 25 minutes.6. You will be greeted with a steep uphill and arrive at another map point, just continue walking straight for about another 20 minutes.7. You will then arrive at a little village with small restaurants at the Sai Wan beach. But don’t stop there!8. Cross the Sai Wan beach to the other side and hike up along the coast, this is mostly uphill so be prepared to hike.9. After 40 minutes, you will have arrived on of the most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong! This is Ham Tin Wan.How To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongHow To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongAs you can see, it can be quite a trek to get to, but you will be rewarded big time with this hidden gem. The beach has one of the whitest sands and tranquil waters I’ve seen in Hong Kong so far. There is a Chinese restaurant on site at Ham Tin Wan for those who want to grab a quick bite after the hike. If you wish to stay the night and stargaze in the dark, the shop also provides camping gear to do so. Those who choose to go on a weekday may be lucky to have the whole beach to yourself! Feel free to swim, sunbath, nap, read a book without any distractions…To depart from the beach, the quickest and easiest way is buy a ticket from the restaurant for a speed boat ride back to the Sai Kung Public Pier (HK$150/ per person). How To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongHow To Find Seclusion In Busy Hong KongLet me know if there are any other secluded beaches you think I should check out in the comments below!https://youtu.be/21pLVSb2Cao
