How I Style A Summer Blazer

Although it may be getting cooler in many parts of the world. It's still blazing hot here in Hong Kong! And honestly, I can't complain since summer is my favourite season of all times. For those of you who know me, I would dress for the summer season all year round if I could. You can read a previous post I wrote about my ultimate summer essentials here! Weather I'm travelling or at back home in Hong Kong, summer attire is always something I try to implement in my wardrobe. So since I've been back home from my travels for a little while, I've been experimenting with new silhouettes and like to dress up my everyday outfits with something a little extra. There is one particular item I'd like to talk about today, so if you’re curious keep reading to see how I style a Summer Blazer!

I want to introduce to you the Summer Blazer (or waistcoat as others may call it) because it been something I've been wearing a lot lately. I am constantly looking for pieces that are just as versatile as they are chic so when I saw this item in the store, I knew I had to get it! As I currently work in a pretty casual working environment at Collective Culture, there isn't a need for me to dress up on a daily basis. However, on most days I like to look more put together and I enjoy mixing casual and more formal pieces to create interesting looks.Unlike many formal clothing that restricts you for a certain occasion, this blazer is perfect for any summer day that can bring you from day to night. I love that it's sleeveless and breathable but also cut in a very flattering way. That's why I want to show 3 different ways I've styled them for different occasions.

How I Style A Summer BlazerWeekenderIf you have been following my insta stories, you may know that I have a love love relationship with Avocados… So how fitting was it when I found this Avocado T-shirt during my trip in Japan?! Another thing for sure is that you can never go wrong with white on white! I’ve opted for a very laid back vibe for this look by pairing the white T-shirt with white high-waisted denim. After putting on my summer blazer unbuttoned, I like to slip on some comfortable lace up sandals with my Ark basket bag and Self Portrait sunnies. And just like that, I’m super weekend ready!

How I Style A Summer BlazerCasual FridayTo update that 9-5 look on a casual Friday, I like to approach this with a mixture of formal and casual pieces. Whilst keeping the summer blazer buttoned up, I’ve picked a pair of high waisted shorts to go underneath with a pair of converse to complete the look. This is keeps the look office appropriate but comfortable for me to move around easily and airy enough for the hot summer days. I can’t forget my basket bags that I’m obsessed with either. Here, I’ve tied a little handkerchief to give it more life!

Glam it upWeather I have a classy dinner to attend or girl’s night out scheduled in, nothing beats a chic silky slip dress to make the look. I’ve buttoned up the blazer to add some shape and structure to the whole outfit. To top off the outfit, I’ve invested in a pair of block heels that I wear all the time! Not only are they comfortable but the simple strap heel goes with anything you put on. Another accessory I’ve been loving this season is the ringed handbag, I love how this one from Mango allows me to sling it on my shoulder with the strap or through my arm with the metal ring handle. Oh! And I always like to finish a formal look with a bold red lip that make it statement.
